The movie Barfi, A romantic comedy helmed by Anurag Basu was set in the 1970s and tells a story of a deaf and mute Darjeeling boy Murphy (Ranbir Kapoor) whose mother died when was born. Murphy was raised by his father alone. Murphy and his relationship with two women, including an autistic heiress (Priyanka Chopra). The fun, frothy film won several awards that season and earned more than Rs.100 crore at the box office.
Murphy meets Shruti Ghosh (Ileana D’Cruz), who arrives Darjeling, who is due to get married in three months, and Murphy is immediately smitten with Shruti. 10. Iqbal (2005) :
The Moviel Iqbal is directed by Nagesh Kukunoor. Iqbal is a sports drama, which tells the story of a young deaf and mute boy Iqbal (Shreyas Talpade) who aspire to play for Indian cricket team and fulfills. The movie Iqbal Starring Naseeruddin Shah, Shreyas Talpade and Shweta Prasad, the film made close to Rs.3 crore in box office collections.

9. Koi Mil Gaya (2003) :
The film Koi Mil Gaya, is helmed by Rakesh Roshan, which is a science fiction film, the story revolved around the story of a mentally handicapped boy who befriends an alien, modeled quite evidently on the 1982 Hollywood hit E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. The heist thriller drama is directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The Movie Aankhen is based on three blind men robbing a bank. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal, Sushmita Sen and Paresh Rawal, the film made more than Rs.10 crore at the box office.
Obsessive and temperamental bank manager Vijay Singh Rajput (Amitabh Bachchan) loses his job for badly beating up a bank clerk who tried to embezzle money. Angered at losing his job he plots revenge on the bank by intending to stage a heist.
7. Sadma (1983) :
Sridevi, meets a bad accident, after the accident, she is unable to recognize her parents. The doctor diagnoses her with retrograde amnesia that leaves her with the memory and intelligence of a six or seven-year-old. Circumstances leads her into prostitution, and in the brothel she meets Somu (Kamal Haasan).
He realizes that she has been forced into the trade. Somehow, he rescues her and takes her to his home in Ooty where he lives with his grandmother and begins to take care of her. He knows Nehalata as Reshmi, which was the pseudonym given to her at the brothel.The film made about Rs. 2 crore at the box office and is regarded as a cult classic today.
6. Koshish (1972) :
The movie Koshish is Directed by Gulzar’s tearjerker is considered a landmark portrayal of the differently abled. Sanjeev Kumar and Jaya Bachchan play a deaf and mute couple struggling to lead a regular life in a desensitized society.
The deaf and mute couple gets married, have a child, who they bring up to be well educated and who gets married to a girl similar to his parents. All they have to help them is their hope, confidence and some kindness in the society along with Uncle Narayan who is blind. The film won Kumar the national award for best actor.
The Movie Sparsh revolves around a blind, in particular about the lives and feelings of blind children and the principal of their school. Sparsh refers to the sensation and feeling of touch upon which blind people rely in the absence of sight.
The story opens with Anirudh Parmar (Naseeruddin Shah) as the principal of Navjivan Andhvidyalay, a school for the blind that educates about 200 blind children. Anirudh has a dark and lonely existence for the most part. One day, while on his way to the doctor, he hears a lovely song and ends up mesmerized at the singer’s door instead of the doctor. In this movie, Naseeruddin Shah portrays a blind school’s principal.
The Movie is composed, directed and written by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, ‘Guzaarish’ featured Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in lead roles. The film narrates the story of a paralyzed magician-turned-Radio jockey (Hrithik) who files a petition in court seeking permission to end his life.
Hrithik is seen playing a quadriplegic in the film. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali reportedly wanted to cast some mature couple for the lead roles. After watching ‘Dhoom 2’ and ‘Jodha Akbar’, he was convinced that Hrithik and Aishwarya would be able to pull it off. The film received a mixed response from the audience and critics alike.
3. Kabil :
Rohan Bhatnagar (Hrithik Roshan) is a kind, happy young man who was born blind, and works as a voice-over artist for a living. Through friends, he meets Supriya Sharma (Yami Gautam), a working woman who is also blind, but proudly independent. The duo starts liking each other and fall in love and get married.
One night, on their way back home after dining out, they are interrupted by Amit Shellar (Rohit Roy), a local goon and younger brother of Madhavrao Shellar (Ronit Roy), a well-known politician. He and his friend Wasim, drunkenly misbehave with the couple, enraging Rohan, and they have a heated exchange.
Sunita (Jiah Khan) is a medical student working on a project about the human brain with her classmates. When she was denied access by her professor to the curious case of Sanjay Singhania (Aamir Khan), who is reportedly has anterograde amnesia, because it is under criminal investigation, Sunita decides to investigate the matter herself.
It is later revealed that Sanjay loses his memory every 15 minutes. He uses a system of photographs, notes, and tattoos on his body to recover his memory after each cycle to remind himself of his mission: to avenge the death of his girlfriend Kalpana (Asin).
