In the New York times review Manhoal Dargis wrote:
“We’re clearly not meant to worry about the niceties — legal, ethical, narrative — while watching “The Equalizer 2. We meant to watch and to cheer. It’s forgivable if you don’t remember anything about the original, which blurs with all the other movies in which Washington has played characters who righteously or just summarily deliver death to the deserving: “The Magnificent Seven,” “The Book of Eli,” “Man on Fire” and so on. He has played his share of decent, morally assured and even bland characters, but, like so many of the greatest American male stars, violence becomes him”
Also, common sense media wrote in its review “Like its predecessor, it’s very violent, but the appealing main character and the inventive action scenes will make it entertaining for older teens and up. Expect to see lots of guns/shooting and knives/stabbing; there are blood spatters and gory wounds.
The movie is rated 7.2 on IMDb, and 5.6 on Rotten Tomatoes with the approval rating of 52% based on the 161 reviews.
