In Bollywood, there are some movies, who had to face the people’s anger due to their name or stories. Even, Controversy has become a trend in a tinsel industry. If the movie is released without involving any controversy, people do not feel good.
In India, we love our cinema and wear the film critic’s hat with ease. That’s a good sign of the freedom of speech and, at times, even reflects the maturity of the audience we are. The problem is when some take the responsibility of censor board upon themselves and judge whether one of the other films should be released or whether a scenes or words should be deleted.
Sometimes people are resorting controversy to come into limelight. Sometimes, it backfired and leading to hit the movies, but many times producer and directors have to face to the huge cost. 6. Sexy Druga:
The Durga is Central Character in the Movie, who is a north Indian girl, who elopes with a Kerala boy named Kabeer. The film was directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan. The film deals with the horror that the couple encounters on the highway at night.
The director clarifies, Sexy Durga doesn’t deal with sex and It has no association with Goddess Durga, apart from the fact that the Kerala village, where it is shot, was celebrating the festival of Garudan Thookkam (Eagle hanging) and devotees of Goddess Kali were shown having been piercing with iron hooks.
Director could have chosen the name of girl Like Pushpa, Ankita, Jaya or else, who would have served the film, but he decided to choose the name “Durga”.
The film has won the Hivos Tiger award at the Rotterdam Film Festival and the Golden Apricot at the Yerevan International Film Festival. The film has been featured at several other prestigious film festivals in India and abroad. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati, whose initial release was December 1 landed in controversies and was banned by the Rajput Karni Sena of Rajasthan. Some organization demanded many scenes to be removed from the movies, they also claimed, the Sanjay has offended their queen. On December 30, the Central Board of Film Certification has given a U/A Certificate to Padmavati with modification and also asked to change the name of the Movie.
The Padmavati will be released will 26 cuts and it’s superhit song Ghoomar will also be edited further. The Censor Board also directed to show disclaimer during the film, claiming the movie is based on the fictional story.
4. Lipstick Under My Burkha:
The lady-oriented film directed by Alankrita Shrivastava garnered many controversies for its content that is laced with sexual scenes and abusive words. This bold movie featured Ratna Pathak Shah, Aahana Kumra, Plabita Borthakur and Konkona Sen Sharma in the lead. CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani refused to censor this movie but later passed it with an A certificate.
The movie was also in the controversy for its name Burkha, people also demanded the word Burkha, should be removed from the Title. The film revolves around four small-town women from Bhopal who try to break societal chains and assert their self-made identities as a way of revolting against repression of female desires, sexual and otherwise
Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees was touted to be the biggest entertainer of the year. But it also featured Pakistani actress Mahira Khan as the female lead which was itself enough to invite controversies. As Pakistani actors were banned in India, Mahira was not allowed to promote the film in India. Later many controversies started digging up.
Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has been booked for allegedly “rioting” and “damaging” railway property during the promotion of his film Raees at Kota Railway station, a Government Railway Police official said today.
2. Indu Sarkar
Madhur Bhandarkar’s film Indu Sarkar was the talk of the town for its subject. Madhur wanted to recreate the Emergency era and was asked by the CBFC to remove words like RSS and Akali Dal. The film was finally released after much fuss.
The movie Indu Sarkar has faced a lot of criticism from the Congress party which termed it as an attempt to tarnish the image of former prime minister Indira Gandhi and son Sanjay Gandhi. 1. Tiger Zinda Hai
As Tiger Zinda Haihits the silver screen, and back with one more action thrilling movie along with his Ek Tha Tiger co-star Katrina Kaif. But, his one of the old video clip, he is heard equating his dancing skills to a word But, in Rajasthan, a Valmiki Bajaj called it offended to him and vandalised the Raj Mandir Cinema in Jaipur and torn down posters, and raised a protest against his movie, Tiger Zinda Hai.
The Valmiki Samajalso demanded, Tiger Zinda Hai not to be screened in Rajasthan. Tiger Zinda Hai is being applauded by throughout the country, accept seen heats in Rajasthan.
